IFHP Dental Coverage
Dentistry on Guelph

We are an IFHP provider in Guelph. If you are a refugee, protected person, or government-assisted newcomer, we bill IFHP directly for the covered portion. Since May 1, 2026, IFHP patients pay 30% of the IFHP-covered cost for urgent dental care. We check your eligibility and tell you the amount before treatment.

Who Is Covered by IFHP?

The Interim Federal Health Program provides temporary health coverage — including dental — to people who are waiting for provincial health insurance to begin. Eligible groups include:

  • Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs)
  • Blended Visa Office-Referred Refugees (BVORs)
  • Privately Sponsored Refugees (PSRs)
  • Asylum claimants and protected persons
  • Certain detained or deported individuals

Coverage varies by category. Your IFHP letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will indicate your coverage level. Bring this letter to your appointment and we will confirm what is included before any treatment begins.

What Dental Services Are Covered?

IFHP dental coverage typically includes essential dental services such as examinations, X-rays, extractions, fillings, and emergency pain relief. The exact services covered depend on your IFHP coverage category. Our team will check your coverage at your appointment and explain exactly what is included — you will never be surprised by a bill.

How to Book as an IFHP Patient

  1. Call us at (226) 541-5050 and tell us you are covered under IFHP. We will confirm your eligibility details and book enough time for your visit.
  2. Bring your IFHP coverage letter — the document from IRCC showing your coverage. If you do not have it yet, call us and we will help you figure out the next step.
  3. Bring a photo ID if you have one. If you do not yet have government-issued ID, please call ahead — we can still see you.

Our Multilingual Team

We understand that navigating a new dental system in a new country can feel overwhelming. Our team speaks multiple languages and is experienced in working with newcomers. We take the time to explain every step of your visit clearly, and we welcome questions in any language we share with you.

Clinic Hours and Location

We are open Monday to Friday 9 AM – 7 PM and Saturday 9 AM – 4 PM, making it easier to book around settlement appointments, language classes, or work.

We are located at 380 Eramosa Rd, Unit #6, Guelph, ON, N1E 6R2, with free on-site parking.

Also Covered: CDCP

When you are no longer covered by IFHP, you may be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a federal dental program. To qualify, you must have no access to private dental insurance, have filed your tax return in Canada, be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and have an adjusted family net income under $90,000. We are a registered CDCP provider as well. Learn more about CDCP coverage →
